Cordia Resources is seeking an experienced and mission‑driven Controller to lead the accounting function and ensure strong financial management across the organization. This role will manage a team of four accounting staff and oversee all key accounting operations, including month-end close, AP/AR oversight, grant distributions, and preparation of financial statements.

Non-profit industry experience is required. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, mission-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the daily operations of the accounting department, including supervising four staff members
  • Oversee and execute the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions and ensure adherence to internal controls
  • Oversee grant accounting, including distribution tracking, compliance, and reporting requirements
  • Prepare, review, and support the development of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
  • Collaborate with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
  • Assist with annual audits by preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and strengthen financial controls
  • Serve as a strategic partner to program and leadership teams, providing financial insights and analysis

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • Non-profit accounting experience required
  • CPA preferred
  • Experience with Sage Intacct strongly preferred
  • Minimum 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities
  • Strong understanding of nonprofit grant accounting, fund accounting, and GAAP
  • Proven experience managing accounting teams and improving processes
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills
  • High proficiency in Excel and familiarity with modern accounting systems
