Cordia Resources is seeking an experienced and mission‑driven Controller to lead the accounting function and ensure strong financial management across the organization. This role will manage a team of four accounting staff and oversee all key accounting operations, including month-end close, AP/AR oversight, grant distributions, and preparation of financial statements.
Non-profit industry experience is required. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, mission-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the daily operations of the accounting department, including supervising four staff members
Oversee and execute the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions and ensure adherence to internal controls
Oversee grant accounting, including distribution tracking, compliance, and reporting requirements
Prepare, review, and support the development of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
Collaborate with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
Assist with annual audits by preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests
Identify opportunities to streamline processes and strengthen financial controls
Serve as a strategic partner to program and leadership teams, providing financial insights and analysis
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
Non-profit accounting experience required
CPA preferred
Experience with Sage Intacct strongly preferred
Minimum 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities
Strong understanding of nonprofit grant accounting, fund accounting, and GAAP
Proven experience managing accounting teams and improving processes
Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills
High proficiency in Excel and familiarity with modern accounting systems
