Senior Accounting & Finance Advisory Consultant
(Interim / Project‑Based – Primarily Remote)
Pay Range: $85–$125/hour, depending on scope, complexity, and level of responsibility

Overview
We are seeking experienced Senior Accounting and Finance Advisory Consultants to support client engagements across a wide range of industries, accounting environments, and transformation initiatives. These roles are project‑based and primarily remote, with opportunities spanning interim controllership, technical accounting, financial reporting, ERP implementation, and finance transformation work.

Engagements vary in length and complexity and may include public company, private equity‑backed, and closely held organizations. Consultants will partner closely with client leadership teams to stabilize operations, enhance reporting quality, and execute critical accounting and finance initiatives.

This opportunity is ideal for professionals with a blend of public accounting and industry experience who enjoy hands‑on, high‑impact project work.

Types of Engagements May Include
  • Interim Controller
  • Technical accounting and policy implementation projects
  • Month‑end / quarter‑end close stabilization and acceleration
  • Audit readiness and external auditor support
  • SEC reporting support (10‑K, 10‑Q, tie‑outs, workpapers)
  • ERP implementation, optimization, or post‑go‑live cleanup
  • Finance and accounting process transformation initiatives
  • M&A support, including integration, carve‑outs, and purchase accounting assistance

Types of Key Responsibilities
Controllership & Core Accounting
  • Support or lead monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, flux analysis, and financial statement preparation
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and well‑documented financial reporting
  • Assist with clean‑up of balance sheet accounts, historical reconciliations, and accounting backlogs
Technical Accounting & Reporting
  • Research, interpret, and apply U.S. GAAP guidance; prepare technical accounting memos and documentation
  • Support implementation and interpretation of complex accounting areas, which may include:
    • Revenue recognition (ASC 606)
    • Lease accounting (ASC 842)
    • Business combinations (ASC 805)
    • Stock‑based compensation (ASC 718)
    • Credit losses (ASC 326)
  • Assist with preparation of footnotes, disclosures, and audit schedules
Audit, Compliance & Controls
  • Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors and advisors
  • Support SOX / internal controls documentation, testing, and remediation efforts as needed
  • Improve audit readiness through process improvements, documentation, and control design
ERP & Systems
  • Support ERP implementations, conversions, and optimizations, including chart of accounts design, data validation, testing, and process alignment
  • Work within a variety of ERP environments, which may include NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Workday Financials, Oracle, or similar systems
  • Partner with finance, IT, and business stakeholders to improve data quality, reporting efficiency, and automation
Finance Transformation & Advisory
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and standardize accounting processes
  • Develop close checklists, reconciliation templates, and repeatable reporting packages
  • Provide actionable insights to client leadership through clear, concise analysis

  • Private equity‑backed and growth‑stage companies
  • Public companies and SEC registrants

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and/or finance experience
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and core accounting principles
  • Experience supporting month‑end close, financial reporting, and audits
  • Ability to operate independently in ambiguous or evolving environments
  • Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets
Preferred
  • Mix of public accounting and industry experience
  • CPA (active or inactive) strongly preferred
  • SEC reporting and/or SOX experience
  • ERP implementation or optimization experience
  • Experience in project‑based, interim, or advisory roles
