A rapidly growing Healthcare client is hiring a Senior Staff Accountant to own the accoutning for 3-4 entities within their portfoilio.
Overview
Our client is a fast-growing, private equity–backed healthcare services organization that owns and operates inpatient and outpatient mental health treatment centers across the United States. The organization has scaled rapidly through acquisition and contunes to grow.
The finance and accounting team is highly accountable, and collaborative. This role is ideal for a proactive Senior Staff Accountant who enjoys autonomy, ownership, and acting as a “mini controller” for a portfolio of healthcare practices.
The Role
As a Senior Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for a portfolio of 3–4 healthcare facilities, serving as the primary accounting partner to operational leaders at those locations. You’ll manage full-cycle accounting responsibilities while building trusted, client-facing relationships with practice leadership.
This role reports to an Accounting Manager and works closely with the VP of Finance. The environment is results-oriented rather than clock-driven—flexibility is high as long as work is delivered accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities
- Own full-cycle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable for assigned facilities
- Act as the primary accounting contact for 3–4 healthcare practices
- Support month-end close, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
- Maintain balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with GAAP
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including flux/variance explanations
- Assist with consolidations, intercompany transactions, and eliminations
- Manage vendor relationships and resolve billing discrepancies
- Support payroll close and address payroll-related issues
- Reconcile bank and credit card accounts
- Record daily sales and manage cash application
- Maintain purchase order tracking and invoice reconciliation
- Manage and review revenue schedules and assist with insurance revenue cycle support
- Assist with annual audits, tax returns, and budget preparation
- Update financial models and reporting schedules
- Help develop and improve accounting policies, procedures, and controls
- Ensure compliance with professional ethics, confidentiality standards, and HIPAA requirements
- Collaborate cross-functionally and mentor/train junior team members as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP and month-end close processes
- Experience managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Advanced Excel skills preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables
Preferred:
- Healthcare accounting experience or familiarity with HIPAA
- Experience in outsourced accounting, client-facing roles, or managing multiple entities
- Exposure to Managed Service Organization (MSO) structures
- Background in private equity–backed or high-growth environments
