Position Overview
Reporting to the Controller, the Staff/Senior Accountant is responsible for a broad range of accounting and financial support functions. This role supports day-to-day accounting operations, month- and year-end close, reconciliations, and compliance activities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and collaborative, with strong technical accounting skills and experience working in a fast-paced, hybrid environment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable and maintain accurate vendor records and documentation
- Record and review credit card transactions, ensuring completeness and proper support
- Assist with recording revenue and accounts receivable transactions
- Deposit and accurately record paper checks in a timely manner
- Prepare and post daily, monthly, and adjusting journal entries
- Perform detailed and complex financial analyses as requested
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including AP, AR, prepaids, fixed assets, and other key accounts
- Communicate with vendors regarding payment issues, credits, and discrepancies
- Collaborate with internal departments to resolve revenue and receivable inquiries
- Support month-end and year-end close, including audit schedules and IRS Form 990 preparation
- Maintain organized digital records to ensure audit readiness
- Prepare year-end vendor tax documents (e.g., 1099s)
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and financial controls
- Assist with implementing and improving internal controls, systems, and workflows
- Support system enhancements, data cleanup initiatives, and special projects
- Perform ad hoc reporting and other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and audit support strongly preferred
- Nonprofit or association experience preferred but not required
- Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct (required) and Bill.com (required)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
