Billing Analyst (Senior)
Purpose of the Billing Analyst
Billing Analyst provides strategic oversight, quality control, and client-facing leadership for revenue cycle operations. While offshore billing teams execute day-to-day transactional billing tasks, the onshore analyst is responsible for accuracy, compliance, client satisfaction, escalation management, and overall financial performance of assigned accounts.
This role serves as the bridge between clients, payers, and offshore billing teams.
Key Responsibilities – Higher-Level Functions
Oversight & Quality Assurance of Offshore Billing Work
- Review offshore billing output for accuracy, compliance, and completeness prior to client or payer impact
- Use Excel to analyze billing data using pivot tables and vlookups (required)
- Perform regular quality audits of:
- Claims submissions
- Payment posting
- Denial resolution
- Appeals and rebilling
- Identify trends in offshore errors and provide corrective feedback and process improvements
- Approve or return complex claims, denials, and appeals for rework
Client-Facing Communication & Relationship Management
- Serve as the secondary billing point of contact for assigned clients
- Attend client billing calls, and ad-hoc issue resolution meetings
- Translate billing data into clear, client-friendly explanations
- Address client concerns regarding denials and aging A/R
Denial Strategy & Revenue Optimization
- Analyze denial trends and root causes across offshore teams
- Provide guidance on appeal prioritization
- Submission and review of claims for complex clients
Training, Guidance & Process Improvement
- Train offshore teams on client-specific rules, payer nuances, updated workflows and policies
- Support onboarding of new offshore staff
Onshore billing analysts provide:
