This role requires deep technical accounting expertise, strong command of Costpoint, and the ability to independently manage close and compliance responsibilities in a highly regulated setting.

Position Overview
The Senior Manager, Accounting will be responsible for independently leading the full monthly close and financial reporting cycle within a government contracting environment. This role serves as a senior accounting leader and subject matter expert, with specific emphasis on Costpoint, cost pools, indirect rates, and audit readiness. The ideal candidate operates with minimal oversight, demonstrates sound technical judgment, and brings a control-minded approach while maintaining execution efficiency. This position partners closely with finance leadership, program teams, and systems stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities

Independently manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes using Costpoint as the core ERP

Ensure accurate setup, maintenance, and allocation of cost pools in compliance with government contracting requirements

Oversee billing, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting across complex programs

Lead audit support activities, including Incurred Cost Submissions, DCAA reviews, SOX, and project-related audits

Identify financial risks, review close results, and implement corrective actions as needed

Drive governance, controls, and audit readiness in a DCAA-focused environment

Develop and maintain complex Excel-based financial models, analyses, and reporting schedules

Serve as a senior accounting advisor to finance leadership, program teams, and systems groups

Partner with FP&A to support forecasting, reforecasts, and long-range planning (TM1 exposure preferred)

Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement scalable, practical solutions

Review and approve work prepared by managers and senior accountants; provide technical guidance and mentorship

Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of all financial outputs
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

8–10+ years of progressive accounting experience in a government contracting environment

Strong technical expertise in Costpoint (required; no exceptions)

Proven experience with cost pools, indirect rates, and allocations

Demonstrated ability to independently manage the close process

Strong GAAP foundation and technical accounting judgment

Experience supporting audits and compliance reviews
Preferred Qualifications

CPA or equivalent certification

Experience in large, complex, multi-entity GovCon organizations

Prior involvement in accounting systems optimization or transformation initiatives

Familiarity with TM1 or similar forecasting tools
