GL Accountant / Accounting Manager
We are seeking a highly skilled GL Accountant / Accounting Manager to support our growing government contracting environment. This role will be responsible for general ledger accounting, month‑end close, financial reporting, and compliance within a Deltek Costpoint system. Depending on experience, the role may include management of accounting staff and ownership of key accounting processes.
The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of government contracting regulations, thrives in a deadline‑driven environment, and brings hands‑on Costpoint expertise.
Key Responsibilities
Core Accounting Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the general ledger in Deltek Costpoint
- Perform month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Ensure accurate accounting for indirect rates, allocations, and cost pools
- Support DCAA‑compliant accounting practices and internal controls
Government Contracting & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, CAS, and company policies
- Support incurred cost submissions, audits, and government inquiries
- Partner with FP&A and Program Finance to ensure accurate project accounting
- Assist with provisional billing rates and rate adjustments
Costpoint System Ownership
- Utilize Deltek Costpoint modules including General Ledger, Project Setup, Billing, Accounts Payable, and Fixed Assets
- Troubleshoot accounting issues within Costpoint and recommend process improvements
- Support system upgrades, configuration, and testing as needed
Leadership & Collaboration
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff
- Review staff work product and ensure adherence to deadlines and quality standards
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with Contracts, Finance, Payroll, and HR
- Identify opportunities to streamline and improve accounting processes
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in a government contracting environment
- Hands‑on Deltek Costpoint experience (required)
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and federal contracting regulations
- Experience with month‑end close and financial reporting
- Advanced Excel skills
Preferred
- CPA or CMA certification
- Prior experience at a large or complex government contractor
- Supervisory or people management experience
- Experience supporting DCAA audits and incurred cost submissions
- Active or prior security clearance
