Senior Accounting & Finance Advisory Consultant
(Project‑Based – Remote)
Pay Range: $60–$100/hour, depending on background

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accounting and Finance Advisory Consultant to support client engagements which will involve 2-3 months working with state, county, local city, or school districts.
This opportunity is ideal for a professional with a blend of public entity industry experience, likely in a Controller or Accounting Manager role, who enjoys hands‑on, high‑impact project work.

Engagement Includes

• Accounting cleanup efforts
• Month‑end / quarter‑end close stabilization
• Audit readiness and external auditor support

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with clean‑up of balance sheet accounts, historical reconciliations, and accounting backlogs
• Assist with preparation for audits of state, county, local city, or school district entities
• Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors and advisors
• Audit readiness and documentation
• GASB compliance

Qualifications
Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 10+ years of progressive accounting and/or finance experience
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, GASB standards, and core accounting principles
• Experience supporting month‑end close, financial reporting, and audits
• Ability to operate independently in ambiguous or evolving environments
• Advanced Excel skills

Preferred

• Previous experience as an Accounting Manager or Controller in the target public entities
• Experience in project‑based, interim, or advisory roles
