Cost Accountant (Manufacturing)
Location: Elyria / West Cleveland, OH (On-Site)
Compensation: $80,000 – $100,000 + Bonus (Commensurate with Experience)
Position Overview
The Cost Accountant will play a critical role in supporting manufacturing operations, cost analysis, and financial reporting, with a focus on standard costing, inventory management, and ERP-driven accounting processes. This position partners closely with both Accounting and Operations to drive accuracy, transparency, and continuous improvement across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and analyze standard costing and inventory valuation within NetSuite
- Support month-end close activities, including cost-related journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting
- Analyze material, labor, and overhead variances and provide actionable insights to leadership
- Partner with Operations and Manufacturing teams to improve cost controls and process efficiency
- Assist with establishing and maintaining standard costs, including labor and overhead (LOH) rates
- Support the implementation and ongoing optimization of NetSuite cost accounting functionality
- Monitor and report on inventory transactions, cost flows, and product profitability
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis related to manufacturing operations
- Support audit requests and maintain internal controls related to inventory and costing
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3–5 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
- Hands-on experience with standard costing, inventory accounting, and cost analysis
- Experience working within NetSuite or a similar ERP system
- Strong understanding of how manufacturing transactions flow through the ERP and impact the General Ledger
- Ability to effectively partner with Operations and Manufacturing leadership
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Self-starter with the confidence and initiative to identify opportunities for improvement and drive change
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience with NetSuite cost accounting
- Multi-plant or multi-entity manufacturing experience
- Experience supporting ERP implementations, upgrades, or system transitions
- CPA, CMA, or progress toward certification
