About the Opportunity

Our client is a rapidly growing, private investment-backed organization seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to lead and develop its AP function. This individual will play a key role in overseeing day-to-day accounts payable operations, managing a team, improving processes, and helping scale the accounting organization as the company continues to grow.

This is a highly visible position that will partner closely with Accounting, Finance, Operations, and leadership teams to ensure timely and accurate payment processing while driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of approximately 3–4 Accounts Payable professionals
  • Oversee the full accounts payable lifecycle, including invoice processing, approvals, vendor maintenance, payment execution, and issue resolution
  • Manage high-volume AP operations and ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices and payments
  • Review and improve AP workflows, controls, and procedures to increase efficiency and scalability
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve invoice discrepancies and vendor-related issues
  • Monitor AP aging, payment trends, and key performance metrics
  • Support month-end close activities, including AP-related reconciliations and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and audit requirements
  • Assist with implementation and optimization of systems, automation initiatives, and process improvements
  • Serve as a key point of contact for vendor relationships and escalated payment matters

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Accounts Payable leadership experience
  • Previous experience managing or supervising AP professionals
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable processes, controls, and best practices
  • Experience operating in a high-volume invoice environment
  • Demonstrated success driving process improvements and workflow efficiencies
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience partnering with accounting and finance leadership teams
  • ERP experience preferred (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, Workday, NetSuite, or similar)

Compensation: $80,000 - $100,000 base salary
Location: Richmond, VA area (Hybrid – 3 days per week in office)
Reports To: Accounting Leadership
