System Architect

We are looking for people that have experience playing the role of system architect. These individuals should have a passion for technology and a desire to hold impactful roles on challenging client projects. This role will provide the most advanced level of technical expertise to support all phases of the systems development life cycle, which includes the design, development, implementation, testing, and maintenance of an enterprise digital records management system for Farm Production and Conservation agencies at United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). This position functions as a system expert for analysis, investigating alternatives, developing prototypes for employing new technology in systems development projects, research, evaluation, project planning, development, implementation, and ongoing support of enterprise applications.

  • Work closely with the government architecture team and our cross-functional Agile team to design and build a highly available and scalable digital record management system in the AWS cloud.
  • Craft a meaningful long-term vision for the development team, working in partnership with the product team and the government client.
  • Participate in strategy and roadmap exercises, architecture definition, product selection, application, and integration design.
  • Participate and provide technical leadership in all phases of the project, from discovery and planning through implementation and delivery.
  • Wear many hats and gain experience with tools, technologies, and platforms across many technology stacks.

Required Qualifications
  • BS in Computer Science or closely related field.
  • At least five years of hands-on experience in architecture and design of enterprise applications and integrations.
  • Solid background in software development, especially building fault-tolerant and scalable cloud-native applications using containerized microservices.
  • Knowledge of architecture and design patterns and the ability to apply them.
  • Experience working with a diverse set of stakeholders and helping them understand the trade-offs to various technical decisions.
  • Experience defining roadmap and execution strategy in collaboration with product, quality, and infrastructure teams.
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new business domains and technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with customers and multi-cultural teams.
  • Experience working in an agile environment following the SAFe model.
