Information System Security Engineer (ISSE)
Top Secret Clearance Required
Location: Washington, DC
Salary: $120,000-$140,000

As an Information System Security Engineer (ISSE), you will play a crucial role in ensuring the cybersecurity of our systems. You will be responsible for overseeing the development and maintenance of cybersecurity solutions, as well as implementing security controls and conducting risk assessments. Your expertise will contribute to the overall security posture of our organization and the protection of sensitive information.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of cybersecurity solutions for systems.
  • Identify system authorization requirements, mission criticality, and security control baselines.
  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and tracking of security plans.
  • Lead the implementation and testing of security controls.
  • Perform risk assessments and assist with security testing.
  • Mitigate vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with security standards.
  • Conduct cybersecurity testing and monitor security control compliance.
  • Record and update system information in eMASS and POA&M.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders through the eMASS Collaboration Board.
  • Assist the ISSM/ISSO with leading the RMF process, maintaining A&A status, and managing security plans.
  • Perform annual security reviews and testing in line with FISMA requirements.
  • Track and resolve vulnerabilities in the POA&M.
  • Register and maintain the system in eMASS.
  • Assess security control implementation and perform cybersecurity testing during sustainment.
  • Report changes in system security posture to the appropriate authority.
  • Support the ISSMs in executing their responsibilities.
  • Ensure compliance with USN, DON, and DoD cybersecurity policies.
  • Verify security clearances and user responsibilities.
  • Establish incident response, business continuity, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Maintain current and accessible policy and procedural documentation.
Requirements:
  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance.
  • CompTIA Security+ or other DOD 8570.01 IAT Level 2 or 3 certification.
  • 6-10 years of system administration and/or cybersecurity experience.
  • Working knowledge of system administration fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with DOD Risk Management Framework (RMF) policies, tools, and standards.
  • Self-motivated with excellent multitasking and prioritization skills.
Education:
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Security+ or other DOD 8570.01 IAT Level 2 or 3 certification.
