Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager Responsibilities:
- Support the daily activities of the accounting department and ensuring that all major projects, month-end, and year-end reports are completed accurately and on time with hands-on support as needed
- Ensure that all accounting processes align with GAAP and FAR
- Assist other departments as they develop strategies, establish objectives, and make decisions that could have a financial impact on the business
- Prepare monthly journal entries
- Review monthly journal entries of junior staff to ensure monthly close is performed timely and accurately substantiated
- Prepare financial analyses and reports
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts
- Preparation of billings in accordance with contractual billing milestones
- Assist with annual audit preparations
- Investigate and resolve audit findings, account discrepancies and issues of non-compliance
- Contribute to the development of new or amended accounting systems, processes, and procedures
- Perform other accounting duties and supporting junior staff as required or assigned
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 4 plus years of accounting experience in a government contracting environment
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel
- Strong financial analysis skills
- Strong organizational and stress management skills
- Ability to train and manage staff
- Ability to work with little to no supervision
