Job Title: Interim Accounting Manager
Job Summary:
We are seeking an Interim Accounting Manager for a non-profit organization to provide leadership and support during a transitional period. The Interim Accounting Manager performs direct line services related to, and supervises staff assigned to, technical support and maintenance of financial systems applications, general ledger accounting, production and interpretation of financial statements and budgets, and identification, design, development, and implementation of new and/or enhanced means of accumulating, reporting, and analyzing financial data.
Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Oversight:
- Manage all aspects of the organization’s general ledger, ensuring timely and accurate financial entries.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash management functions.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and other applicable regulations specific to the non-profit sector.
- Review and approve reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close processes.

Financial Reporting:
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Support the preparation of detailed financial reports for leadership, board meetings, and external stakeholders.
- Monitor budget performance and variance analysis, providing insights to senior management.

Audit & Compliance:
- Lead and coordinate audit preparation, including gathering required documentation and responding to audit requests.
- Ensure compliance with grant, donor, or regulatory reporting requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in non-profit accounting standards (if applicable).

Team Leadership & Development:
- Supervise, mentor, and train accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient working environment.
- Evaluate internal controls and recommend improvements as necessary.
- Assist with the recruitment and onboarding of a permanent Accounting Manager.

Strategic Planning & Advisory:
- Partner with senior leadership to develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
- Provide strategic input into long-term financial planning, funding strategies, and cost control initiatives.
- Assist in financial forecasting and budgeting processes.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency with MS Dynamics GP and Management Reporter.
· Excellent organization, planning, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple and often changing priorities and issues of varying complexity, while meeting time-sensitive deadlines and deliverables.
· Advanced Excel skills.
· CPA with active status is a plus.
· Healthcare experience is a plus.
· Financial software implementation experience is a plus.
· Excellent analytic and communication skills.
