Senior Accountant - Non-Profit
Washington, DCJob Title: Senior Accountant
Location: Hybrid – Washington, DC (In office 3 days per week)
Salary Range: $76,000 - $105,000
Position Overview:
This Senior Accountant role has opened due to department growth and turnover. Reporting to the SVP of Finance & Accounting, the ideal candidate will bring 7+ years of relevant accounting experience with exposure to non-profit (NFP) organizations. The position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic team supporting critical financial functions, including general ledger, month-end close, and audit support.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform GL accounting duties, including reconciling restricted and unrestricted revenue.
Manage month-end close activities, including cash reconciliations, prepaids, endowments, and investments.
Support the preparation of financial reports and analyses for management review.
Perform year-end procedures and support the annual audit process.
Maintain accurate records and documentation for audit purposes.
Collaborate across departments to ensure accuracy and compliance with financial policies.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required).
Experience: 7+ years of related experience; NFP accounting experience required.
Software Skills: Proficiency in Financial Edge/Raiser’s Edge and MS Office, with strong Excel skills.
Soft Skills: Strong multitasking abilities, adaptability to shifting priorities, and a customer service mindset.
