Location: Arlington, VA – Hybrid (2-3 days)

Role Overview
Seeking a strong Controller who will lead core accounting operations while helping modernize the finance function for a growing, mission-driven organization.
In this role, you will:

• Oversee all accounting operations, including month-end close, AP/AR, payroll, grants, audit, and tax.
• Provide financial insight and partner closely with senior leadership on strategy, planning, and operational improvements.
• Ensure accurate, GAAP-compliant financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead process improvement initiatives, policy development, and systems optimization
• Develop reporting tools, dashboards, and metrics to support data-driven decisions.
• Manage and mentor the accounting team as the organization scales and evolves.

Qualifications

• Experience in nonprofit, social impact, or mission-oriented environments
• CPA required
• 8+ years of progressive accounting leadership.
• NetSuite or comparable ERP experience
• Proven ability to lead change, strengthen processes, and modernize systems.
• Strong tenure and track record of stability.
