Senior Accountant-Non-profit

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant with a strong background in nonprofit accounting to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have experience in grant fund accounting, revenue management, and account reconciliations. Proficiency in Sage Intacct is a plus. This role is critical in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with grant requirements, and efficient financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

         Manage the accounting and reporting of grant funds, ensuring compliance with donor and regulatory requirements.
         Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
         Oversee revenue recognition processes, including tracking restricted and unrestricted funds.
         Perform detailed reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, including cash, grants receivable, and deferred revenue.
         Support the month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing journal entries and financial reports.
         Collaborate with program managers to ensure accurate grant reporting and budget monitoring.
         Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to nonprofit financial management.
         Assist with the preparation of financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including funders and auditors.
         Support the annual audit process by preparing necessary schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
         Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the finance function.

Qualifications:

         Required: 3+ years of accounting experience in a nonprofit environment.
         Required: Experience with grant fund accounting and reporting.
         Preferred: Experience with Sage Intacct or similar accounting software.
         Strong understanding of GAAP, with a focus on nonprofit accounting standards.
         Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial tools.
         Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
         Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
         Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
         Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
