We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Finance to lead our financial operations in a mission-driven, nonprofit environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nonprofit financial management, financial reporting, and leadership experience. This role will manage a team of five finance staff, oversee the month-end close process, and lead the annual audit. Experience with Sage Intacct is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and donor requirements.
• Manage and mentor a team of five finance professionals, fostering professional development and a collaborative environment.
• Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of financial records.
• Coordinate and manage the annual audit process, working closely with external auditors to ensure successful and timely completion.
• Develop and monitor organizational budgets, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial regulations, as well as grant and contract requirements.
• Collaborate with senior leadership on financial strategy, risk management, and operational decision-making.
• Oversee cash flow management, internal controls, and financial policies to safeguard assets and ensure financial sustainability.
• Utilize and optimize financial software systems, including Sage Intacct (preferred), to streamline processes and reporting.
Qualifications:
• Required: 5+ years of progressive financial management experience, including management of at least 5 staff.
• Required: Significant experience in nonprofit finance, including managing grants, restricted funds, and donor reporting.
• Required: Strong expertise in financial reporting and compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
• Preferred: Experience with Sage Intacct or similar accounting systems.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with a proven ability to mentor and develop staff.
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required (Master’s degree or CPA preferred).
