Cordia Resources by Cherry Bekaert is partnered with a behavioral AI healthcare firm who is seeking an Interim Controller to join their team on a 2+ month contract basis.

Title: Interim Controller
Location: Hybrid – 2 days: Tues and Thurs in office in Washington, DC
Hourly Rate: $55.00 - $66.00/hour
Job Type: Contract (2+ months)

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller will oversee the full range of accounting functions, and play a key role in ensuring the financial health and growth of our client. This is a hands-on role, ideal for a proactive and results-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment. You will work closely with a small offshore accounting support team, ensuring efficient collaboration to drive company-wide alignment on accounting and financial goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
  • Produce timely and accurate financial reports (monthly, quarterly, and annual) in compliance with GAAP.
  • Report on cash flow and monitor financial KPIs.
  • Maintain internal controls and financial policies to ensure compliance and data integrity.
  • Partner with other departments to drive financial and operational goals.
  • Coordinate with the offshore accounting support team.
About You:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field (CPA preferred).
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, and operations management, ideally in startup environments.
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Proficient with financial management software (the company uses QuickBooks).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to build relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
