Payroll Specialist to join their team on a contract-to-hire basis. Reporting to the Senior Payroll Manager, the Payroll Specialist will process a semi-monthly multistate payroll with accuracy and timeliness. You will work collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment to maximize efficiency and productivity.

Hourly Rate: $30.00/hour
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Responsibilities:
- Consistently and accurately process multistate payroll.
- Manage workflow to maximize efficiency.
- Audit timesheets to ensure proper wage and benefit distribution.
- Accurately record and document transactions.
- Research, analyze, and resolve discrepancies, reporting to management as needed.
- Continuously monitor accounts for accuracy.
- Ensure accurate taxation and garnishment for each account.
- Participate in end-of-month closings and audits.
- Conduct year-end reporting for W-2s and other documents.
- Respond promptly to payroll-related questions via email.
- Maintain constant communication with teammates and management.
- Communicate with HR teams for account updates.
- Identify opportunities to enhance payroll operational efficiency.
- Comply with legal and institutional requirements.
- Respect client privacy.
- Assist in developing and maintaining standard operating procedures.
- Support other duties and ad-hoc projects as assigned by the Senior Payroll Manager.
Requirements:
- Full-time, exempt position with a 40-hour work week.
- Hybrid schedule: M-W in office, Th-Fr remote.
- Proficient in G Suite and strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Skills & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in payroll or a similar role.
- Experience with multi-state payroll for 1000+ employees is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Tech-savvy with a passion for process improvement.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with payroll software such as Namely or Workday is a plus.
- Solid knowledge of employee tax forms.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong aptitude for numbers and a commitment to accuracy.
- Team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Outstanding problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
