Cordia Resources by Cherry Bekaert is partnered with a dynamic, mid-sized IP law firm who is seeking a hands-on Interim Controller/CFO to lead their accounting team and oversee financial operations. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with their outgoing CFO to ensure a smooth transition. In this role, you will manage cash flow, financial statements, payroll, collections, banking relationships, and more. This role is based in Greenville, South Carolina but is open to a remote option for someone with heavy law firm experience.
 
Title: Controller/CFO
Job Type: Contract (2-3 months) with potential for contract-to-hire
Location: Greenville, SC
Hourly Rate: Flexible Market Rate

 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee financial operations including cash flow management, financial statement preparation, and payroll processing.
  • Collaborate with attorneys to manage collections and maintain banking relationships.
  • Handle banking transactions, billing reports, and budgeting (August–January cycle).
  • Lead and mentor a team of 7 accounting professionals: Accounting Supervisor, 3 Billers, AP, and 2 GL.
  • Utilize Aderant (our long-standing legal billing and accounting system) alongside manual Excel workarounds.
  • Drive the transition to a more integrated payroll solution planned for 2025.

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a similar financial leadership role, ideally within a law firm.
  • Strong understanding of cash basis financial management.
  • Proficiency with Aderant or similar legal accounting systems.
  • Hands-on experience with high-volume billing and financial operations.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
