Cordia Resources by Cherry Bekaert is partnered with a dynamic multi-entity startup who is seeking a proactive and strategic hands-on Corporate Controller to oversee financial operations and ensure compliance, accuracy, and efficiency in all accounting and reporting activities. Title: Corporate Controller
Location: Hybrid – Chesapeake, VA
Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000 (dependent upon experience)
Job Type: Full Time / Permanent
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
- Prepare and present financial statements in accordance with GAAP, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including tax filings and audits.
- Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
- Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes, collaborating with department heads.
- Manage external audits and maintain relationships with auditors, banks, and financial institutions.
- Provide strategic financial analysis and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Supervise and mentor the accounting team, fostering accountability and professional growth.
- Streamline accounting processes through technology and best practices.
- Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and financial risks, implementing mitigation strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred or intentions to obtain CPA.
- 5-15 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, ideally as a Strong Accounting Manager or Controller.
- QuickBooks experience required; knowledge of multi-entity consolidations is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven experience managing audits and collaborating with external stakeholders.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with FP&A, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Strategic mindset with a track record of driving financial efficiency.
- Experience implementing ERP systems or process automation.
