The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting our client partners with hotel financial statement preparation including month-end closing and assisting with on-going accounting requirements. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enters and posts all cash journal entries.
Calculates monthly management fee and processes collection.
Monitors FFE, PIP, Taxes, Insurance and other reserve requirements on a monthly basis, ensuring reserves are funded on a timely basis and properly reconciled to the financial statements
Reconciles intercompany accounts with sister companies and other entities at the end of each period to ensure that all items are recorded
Manages cash transfers with Controller and oversees the reconciliation process for two division’s financial statements.
Reconciles and records company credit card purchases.
Prepares invoices and submits summary of postings.
Calculates royalty accruals and processes payments.
Accrues monthly recurring expenditures including gas, electricity, and water invoices.
Prepares and submits sales tax returns (state and county) and processes payment.
Reconciles cash accounts for all entities.
Coordinates period-end close checklist and deadlines.
Maintains full responsibility for construction and renovation accounting, working with Controller to ensure timely billing to project and bank draws.
Audits expense reports, including travel and petty cash reimbursements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
College degree (bachelor’s) in accounting, finance or related field.
Read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical solutions.
Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook; experience working with complex financial management software is desired (such as Sage, ADP, and M3).
Must possess a valid driver’s license, proper insurance coverage, and a clean driving record for business related travel.
