Cordia Resources by Cherry Bekaert is partnered with a commercial and government sector financial consulting firm based in Washington, DC is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team on a 1 year contract basis. The ideal candidates will play a key role in supporting the financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance in financial reporting, and maintaining robust internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) within our clients mortgage services.

Title: Staff Accountant
Location: Hybrid - Washington, DC/Arlington,VA
Hourly Rate: $30.00 - $40.00/hour
Job Type: Contract (1 year)

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation and review of financial statements and reports.
• Support the development and implementation of internal control frameworks, specifically focusing on mortgage operations.
• Conduct analyses to ensure compliance with financial regulations and identify areas for process improvements.
• Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Participate in audits and provide documentation to support audit processes.
• Assist in maintaining accurate records and documentation for all financial transactions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience in financial reporting and internal controls, preferably in the mortgage sector.
• Knowledge of ICFR (Internal Control over Financial Reporting) principles.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks.
• Excellent communication skills.
