Cordia Resources by Cherry Bekaert is partnered with a financial services firm based in St. Petersburg, FL who is seeking an Interim Controller with P&C insurance experience to join their team.

Title: Interim Controller
Location: Remote/Hybrid - St. Petersburg, FL (Candidate should be either local to St. Petersburg or willing to travel 1x per month on site)
Hourly Rate: Market Rate
Job Type: Contract

Candidate will be responsible for:

• Day to day financial and accounting operations
• Consolidations oversight and responsibilities
• Certification of GAAP and financial reporting
• Serve as liasion with external auditors
• Monitor compliance activities
• Oversight for 7 individuals on team
• General ledger and close activities
• Assisting with redesign financial processes and automation
• Maintain month-end and year-end close activities, audit readiness, and financial reporting

Candidate should have the following experience:

• 10+ years of financial and accounting experience
• Experience with insurance or financial services organizations
• Expertise in month-end close, staturtory accounting, treasury operations, and ASC 740 or ASC 606 regulations
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or similar major
• CPA preferred but not required
• 5+ years of oversight of accounting staff
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
