Cordia Resources is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with a strong background in construction accounting to join the growing team of one of our top clients. This role plays a critical part in managing the day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accurate job cost reporting, and supporting financial operations across multiple construction projects.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in job costing, WIP schedules, and progress billing, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain the general ledger and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded in accordance with GAAP
Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, job cost reports, and WIP (Work-in-Progress) schedules
Oversee progress billing, retention tracking, and change order accounting
Support project managers with cost tracking and budget variance analysis
Review and reconcile subcontractor and vendor invoices for accuracy and compliance with contracts
Assist in the preparation of monthly/quarterly/annual closings
Coordinate and support external audits and bank compliance reporting
Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting processes, and documentation
Monitor and reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll entries as needed
Help implement and improve accounting software and systems as the company scales
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2–3 years in construction or project-based accounting
Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, job costing, and WIP reporting
Experience with AIA billing, retention, and contract compliance
Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint, Foundation, or QuickBooks)
Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting
Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills
CPA or CPA-track is a plus but not required
