Software Architect – Ground Systems & Mission Operations

A pioneering aerospace technology company is seeking a Software Architect to lead the design and development of advanced ground systems supporting next-generation satellite missions. Key Responsibilities

• Architect, prototype, and maintain software systems that automate satellite operations, including mission scheduling, telemetry processing, and anomaly response.
• Design scalable, event-driven microservices and interfaces across the ground segment, including command, control, and communications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and performance.
• Implement DevOps practices to support continuous integration, testing, and deployment of mission-critical services.
• Contribute to the evolution of the company’s software framework with innovative features tailored to unique mission requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 8+ years of experience developing highly available web services using server-side scripting languages (Python preferred).
• Proven experience in automating space or aerospace operations.
• Strong foundation in software architecture, microservices, interface design, and automated testing.
• 4+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated build/test systems.
• Proficiency with relational databases (Postgres preferred).
• Solid understanding of cloud security, access control, and identity management.
• Experience with containerized services (Docker/Kubernetes).
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance or recent read-in.
• Experience designing APIs using Swagger/OpenAPI.
• Background in R&D environments, prototyping, and systems engineering.
• Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring tools and best practices.
