Cordia Resources by Cherry Bekaert is partnered with a mission-driven nonprofit organization in the affordable housing and real estate sector who is seeking a Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager with strong grants management experience to join their team on a contract-to-hire basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to make an impact while working in a collaborative environment with a hybrid schedule.

Title: Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager – Grants Experience
Location: Hybrid – Silver Spring, MD (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
Pay Rate: $50–$55/hour (higher possible for exceptional candidates)
Job Type: Temp-to-Perm Opportunity

Responsibilities:

• Lead financial analysis, monthly reporting, and budget preparation
• Manage grants accounting and compliance reporting
• Assist with budget season planning and analysis
• Oversee and improve accounting workflows and SOPs
• Partner cross-functionally on inspections, leasing, and marketing initiatives for assigned properties
• Collaborate with leadership on financial projects, audits, and strategic planning
• Ensure accuracy in MRI (preferred) or similar accounting software systems

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in nonprofit or real estate sectors
• Proven grants accounting and compliance experience
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, charts, financial modeling)
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
• Experience with MRI software a plus
