Vice President of Finance and Accounting
Location: Arlington, VA (Hybrid; 2–3 days/week in office, Ballston area) Compensation: Up to $235K base + ~15% bonus; possible future equity Industry: Professional Services (Commercial & Federal Sectors) Company Size: ~$50M – $60M revenue, rapidly growing A leading professional services firm serving both commercial and federal clients is seeking a dynamic Vice President of Finance and Accounting. This is the highest finance position in the organization, reporting directly to the CEO and overseeing all aspects of finance, accounting, and contracts. The company is at an inflection point, expanding into new markets and leveraging technology to support growth. Position Summary:
The VP of Finance and Accounting will lead a team of approximately 15, including domestic and international staff, and play a critical role in shaping financial strategy and operations. This executive will drive operational finance execution, budget oversight, and connect financial insights to real-world business drivers. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, business-minded, and technologically savvy, with strong leadership qualities and experience managing change in fast-paced environments. Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a key advisor to the CEO and executive team on accounting, tax, corporate development (M&A), financial planning, budgeting, cash flow, investment priorities, and policy matters
Oversee day-to-day functions of the Accounting, Finance, and Contracts departments
Lead end-to-end financial planning and analysis (FP&A), including annual planning, rolling forecasts, and variance reporting across multiple entities
Present and manage financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders, including investors, shareholders, accounting firms, and lending institutions
Develop and execute financial initiatives, policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance and support organizational goals
Advise company executives and managers on financial goals and strategy
Oversee all aspects of finance and accounting operations, including financial statements, forecasts, planning, budgeting, financial analysis, cash management, and procurement
Manage integration and change management across entities and business process outsourcing (BPO)
Serve as Facility Security Officer for facility clearance requirements
Lead, manage, and inspire teams, including recruiting, developing, and retaining top talent
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field (Master’s preferred)
10–20 years of managerial experience
Certifications such as CPA, CFA, or CMA preferred
Proven experience as a VP of Finance or similar role
Strong FP&A background and business acumen
Experience with government contracting services and cost structures
Technologically savvy, with experience in ERP systems (Microsoft Business Central preferred)
Experience managing domestic and international teams
Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical, and leadership skills
Ability to drive strategy, execution, and change management in a growing organization
