Summary:
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Project Design Engineer will produce complete designs of architectural and perimeter security products for various customers and clients, including the US Government. The Project Design Engineer will be responsible for development, product integration into specification-driven projects, drawings for window and door systems, and design coordination with outside engineering consultants and project site engineering staff.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
• Produce project-specific, conceptual designs that match the requests of customers and the product design team
• Conduct regular meetings with internal project managers and clients to ensure projects are designed to meet project requirements
• Ensure integration of products into spec-driven project submittals
• Ensure products are designed and integrated in compliance with US Department of State,
Department of Defense, and/or other related certifications and specifications
• Provide guidance to drafters within the engineering team
• Interaction with operations and manufacturing Engineer, and supply chain personnel to confirm manufacturing of design.
• Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
• U.S. Citizen
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance (Secret)
• Undergraduate degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (Structural, Mechanical, Architectural) and 3+ years of experience, or in lieu of degree, 5+ years of experience performing in a similar role
• Structural and Architectural/Civil Engineering focus preferred
• Excellent in problem solving
• Ability to read architectural and engineering drawings
• Strong technical expertise related to design and construction
• Proficiency in Autodesk products (Inventor and AutoCAD)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Basic understanding of project management, document control, and product lifecycle management
software (Autodesk Vault). Autodesk Revit, and fusion 360 knowledge a plus
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to travel occasionally both domestically & internationally (5-10%)
• Knowledge of Department of State building engineering standards, design for forced entry resistance and ballistic resistance (FE/BR), façade design, architectural design, and construction specifications is desirable but not required
