Senior Accountant

Overview:
We have an exciting direct hire, Senior Accountant opportunity available in Manassas, VA.  Our client is a private equity backed $200M manufacturing company with operations across the US. As Senior Accountant, you will assist/lead technical accounting matters including project accounting revenue analysis, intercompany reconciliations, consolidation accounting, and fixed asset analysis. We are looking for a detail-oriented person with a strong accounting backbone (BS degree in Accounting required) and significant knowledge of technical accounting areas. Our client offers strong personal growth opportunity and competitive a compensation package of $80-90k (depending on experience).
 
Senior Accountant Responsibilities:
  • Prepares periodic standalone and consolidating balance sheets, income statements, and other financial packages
  • Prepare detailed variance analysis, liaising with leadership to improve financial procedures and share financial results
  • Prepare all journal entries for corporate accounting areas, to include but not limited to general and administrative expenses, fixed assets, treasury transactions, lease accounting, allocations, and consolidations and eliminations
  • Timely completion of bank and ledger reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of financial reporting
  • Close collaboration with Payroll and Project Accounting
  • Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit
  • Research and provide recommendations to management on technical accounting matters
  • Perform thorough reviews of accounting work products and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
  • Complete various government filings to include sales and use, personal property, gross receipts, franchise, business and occupational licenses; assist with tax audits and tax returns
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
 
Senior Accountant Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required), and CPA highly preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills (required) and experience with MS Dynamics 365 preferred
  • Strong and proven understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); in particular: consolidations, intercompany transactions, lease accounting, fixed asset accounting, and percentage of completion revenue recognition
  • Experience working for a PE-backed family of companies and/or in the construction sector
  • Experience with M&A transactions and business combination accounting
