Title: Staff Accountant
Location: Bethesda, MD
Hourly Rate: $25.00 - $30.00
Job Type: Contract to Hire

Responsibilities:
US and International Payments (35%)
  • Confirm accuracy and provide timely payment to vendors/suppliers
  • Monitor and Top up payment accounts to ensure enough funds are available to cover weekly payouts
  • Review all payments to make sure payment meets the compliance and legal requirements
  • Enter payments in banking system to be reviewed and approved before posting to the accounting GL
  • Investigate and resolve any issues associated with payments to non-US based vendors/suppliers.
  • Work close with other departments to ensure payments are correct and funds due to company are tracked and recovered
 
General Accounting Duties (30%)
  • Provide backup support to other members in the accounting department
  • Works on special projects and new initiatives
  • Reviewing monthly expenses for GL and department accuracy
  • Create journal entries to reclass expenses
  • Record weekly bank transactions in accounting system
  • Reconcile AP subledger and month-end workbook
  • Assist the GL team with missing items to close out month and quarter end
  • Create and maintain procedure guides for AP processing
 
General Invoicing (20%)
  • Resolves vendor correspondence, Salesforce tickets and other related issues in a timely manner
  • Creates vendors by requesting W9/W8 and completing required fields in the accounting system
  • Investigates and resolves problems associated with the processing of invoices.
 
ACH Payables (15%)
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of ACH payments that are approved to process
  • Set-up transactions in the system and confirm direct payment information to make sure electronic transmission of data is correct
  • Monitor the process to identify and correct inaccurate information or failed payments
  • Implement solutions to avoid errors and ensure 100% accuracy
  • Review all AP entries weekly for proper approval, back up and coding
Requirements:
  • Must be a US Citizen or permanent resident
  • A minimum of 5 years of accounts payable experience required
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with experience using formulas/pivot tables, etc.
  • Experience with Intacct is a plus, requires experience with accounting software
  • Strong ability in managing priorities
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Knowledge of three way matching of purchase orders, packing slips and invoices
  • Ability to perform in a high-growth, fast-paced, collaborative work environment
  • Ideal candidates will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organization skills, thrive in a fast-paced environment and keen attention to details
