A well-established, respected hospitality sector company is seeking a highly qualified, experienced Senior Accountant to join their successful accounting team.  The position is responsible for a variety of general accounting functions, with an emphasis on revenue recognition requirements and standards.  The Senior Accountant reports to the Revenue Recognition Manager.  The position will be based at the headquarters office in Rockville.
 
Specific Responsibilities
  • Responsible for certain month and year-end closing procedures to ensure accuracy of the financial statements; in particular, maintaining the Revenue Subledger.  Prepare and maintain related tracking schedules and standard revenue financial reports.
  • Responsible for monthly revenue transactions in the GL and Revenue Subledger, including calculating estimates to accrue
  • Assist Revenue Recognition Manager in revenue recognition and spend tracking initiatives, including variance explanations
  • Prepare asset and liability balance sheet reconciliations and rollforward schedules, to include recommending and preparing adjusting journal entries.
  • Interact with internal staff to resolve issues or identify potential revenue adjustments, accruals and general variance explanations.
  • Prepare customer true-up reports for quarterly, bi-annual and annual distributions, including property variance explanations to Account Management staff.
  • Prepare other quarterly distributions to customers
  • Prepare periodic manual billings
  • Prepare schedules for annual financial audit and Founder AUP audit, to include interacting and providing explanations to audit inquiries.
  • Ad hoc revenue related analysis and reports
  • Assist with Pepsi-related calculations and invoicing, as well as, subsequent payment to Avendra customers.
  • Prepare annual schedules and reconciliations for the G/L adjustment regarding Customer accruals vs true-up distribution variances.
  • Review contract terms and conditions to determine appropriate revenue recognition.
  • Assist with A/P vendor additions/updates in Navision.
  • Perform general ledger special projects, as requested.
  • Perform research and work on special projects, as requested.
 
Role Requirements
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with ERP financial software package
  • Strong written and oral communication, organizational, analytical and problem solving skills

  • Well-organized
Years of Relevant Experience
  • Four to six years of progressive experience
Education Requirements
  • BS/BA in Accounting or equivalent, CPA qualifying curricula required
  • CPA strongly preferred
