Silver Spring, MDCordia Resources is currently seeking a talented and experienced Senior Accountant for our non-profit client. As a Senior Accountant you will be responsible for supporting balance sheet reconciliations, month-end close activities, journal entries, and variance analysis. Your expertise will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and effective utilization of resources. Experience with Great Plains software is a significant advantage for this role.

- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.
- Assist in the month-end close process, including preparing journal entries and financial statements.
- Perform detailed variance analysis to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary financial information and resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
- Provide support for annual audits and other financial examinations.
- Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
- Mentor and support junior accounting staff as necessary.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the non-profit sector.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Experience with balance sheet reconciliations, month-end close, journal entries, and variance analysis.
- Proficiency in using accounting software, with Great Plains experience strongly preferred.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.
