Accounting Manager

Title: Accounting Manager
Compensation: 115k base plus bonus and equity
Environment: Hybrid, 3 days per week in office

Summary
The Accounting Manager prepares and reviews day-to-day accounting and financial reporting supporting schedules. The Accounting Manager's responsibilities also include assistance with financial reporting, internal control compliance and development of policies and procedures to drive efficiency and value. This is a key role in the growth of the Finance department as it supports a growing company in the life science industry.

Principal Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end closes
  • Monitor and analyze processes and controls for efficiencies while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  •  Collaborate with business owners to assess program expenditures, identifying applicable accruals and related disclosures.
  • Preparation and review of detailed balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Support the company’s SOX compliance efforts by maintaining and reviewing appropriate control evidence.
  • Manage the clinical accrual process in support of the monthly and quarterly close process working collaboratively with the internal clinical teams and external CRO’s where applicable.
  • Support budget and forecasting activities.
  • Act as a liaison between the company and the external auditors to provide audit and review requests in a timely manner and ensure that proper information is maintained for recordkeeping purposes.
  • Review contracts to identify contractual liabilities and monitor contractual milestones.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of accounting experience
  • CPA preferred but not required
  • Public company experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to perform value-add reviews of account reconciliations
  • Biotechnology experience preferred but not required
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced work environment
