Overview:
Our client is a rapidly growing, acquisition minded, and technology enabled Financial Service firm with their HQ in the DC area and satellite operations across the country. Founded by prominent investment professional, the Company is keenly focused on providing strategic funding for small to medium-sized businesses in various industries across the country. The Company is searching for a direct-hire Controller to help lead the day-to-day Accounting and Finance operations of their multi-faceted business. This role will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and lead an accounting team of 4-5 individuals. This position will offer around $140-150k in salary plus bonus, depending on experience, and will be remote for the foreseeable future.
 
Controller Responsibilities:
  • Lead all areas of operational accounting including, but not limited to month end close, multiple ledgers, AR/AP, cash management, and various audits
  • Partner with Management team and drive strategic initiatives including operational/functional improvements and bolstering the financial processes and controls
  • Oversee the financial statements and presentation to management of several sets of entities’ reports that roll up to the corporate level
  • Handle forecasts and budgeting of key financial indicators
  • Oversee the daily tasks of the Accounting team (4-5 individuals)
  • Facilitate communication and initiatives between members of team and management
  • Continue to build accounting team to support and sustain corporate growth and operations to build efficiencies and drive effective procedures
  • Motivate, mentor, and manage through this crucial period for firm
 
Candidate Qualifications:
  • Excellent education background, at least Bachelor’s in accounting from reputable institution
  • CPA accreditation, required
  • 10-15 years of related experience, public and corporate profiles preferred with a focus in Financial Service industry
  • Extensive managerial experience (4+ staff) and ability to lead and motivate others, required
  • Strong abilities with systems and technology, specifically Sage Intacct software
  • Hands-on roll up their sleeves mentality and approach to balance multiple priority items
  • Excellent operational/day-to-day accounting experience, building efficiencies and seeing problems before they arise
  • Research oriented/analytical approach to technical matters
