Cordia Resources by Cherry Bekaert is partnered with a global services firm who is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Project Cost Accountant to join their team on a contract basis with the potential for contract to hire. The ideal candidate will manage all aspects of new direct and indirect project setup and maintenance in Costpoint for various contract types, including Cost Plus, Time & Material, Work in Process, and Fixed Price. This role supports existing contracts as a billable position and provides operational project reporting in collaboration with their accounting and finance teams.
 

Job Title: Project Cost Accountant
Job Type: Contract / Contract to Hire
Location: Reston, VA

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up new projects upon contract award or authorization to proceed.
• Process contract modifications and create new charge codes.
• Collaborate with project managers to establish WBS and initial budget setups.
• Maintain wage determination and recommend proper project setup.
• Ensure accurate revenue recognition, billing, and cost reporting.
• Create and distribute project status and revenue summary reports.
• Resolve labor errors and research revenue issues.
• Troubleshoot Deltek application issues and serve as a liaison between operations and accounting.
• Assist with monthly close processes and account reconciliations.

Qualifications and Skills:

• 8+ years of relevant work experience in Government Contract Accounting/Finance.
• Experience with Costpoint 8.1 or 8.2 is essential.
• Strong collaborative and effective communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as a self-starter and problem solver.
• Preferred experience with Costpoint Project Setup and/or Billing modules.
• CPA or extensive accounting experience is desired but not required.
• Cognos Report experience is desired.

Education and Certification Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Ability to secure and maintain Department of Defense Security Clearance if required.
• Must pass pre-employment testing (drug and background checks).
