Startup Entertainment Company Senior Accountant ($85-90k salary + bonus + stock potential) Arlington, VA - Hybrid
Company Overview: Our client is a very exciting, and well-funded Startup Entertainment company with projections to take a significant portion of the $2B industry. The company is currently $31M and targeting ~$150M in the next 1-2 years. There are 18 full time employees, which will double by the end of year. They have offices up and down the East coast, with their Accounting/Finance team in Arlington, VA. Currently, the team uses QuickBooks and Bill.com, while they grow and expand. The organization is very flexible and operates on a hybrid work schedule (2 days in office per week).
Role Summary: The company is seeking an entrepreneurial Senior Accountant to report directly to the Controller with a dotted line to the CEO and a very high level of visibility across the organization. This person will handle oversee closing the books, support critical management decisions, present to the Board and other investors. This role has unlimited growth and the right person could be a Controller in 3-4 years, as they expand the accounting/finance team. Compensation target: $85-90k salary + discretionary bonus + stock potential (after appropriate time)
Responsibilities:
Executing a variety of financial procedures, including month-end and year-end closings, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, tax returns, bank reconciliations, general ledger reviews, forecasting and budgeting
Analyze financial statements for discrepancies and alert key stakeholders if necessary
Reconcile accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance
Prepare documentation for and mange external accounting firm
Manage accounting assistants and bookkeepers
Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process
Provide input into department’s goal setting process
Assist with tax audits and tax returns
Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
Plan, assign and review staff’s work
Support month-end and year-end close process
Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
Qualifications:
2-4 years of corporate or public accounting experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting
CPA highly preferred
Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet software
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Strong understanding of federal, state and local tax regulations
