Senior Accountant - Government Contracting 15506645

Our client, a Civil Engineering Firm in the Government Contracting space is seeking a Senior Accountant. This is a direct hire, full time role with five (5) days in office in Washington, DC. Compensation is in the range of $65k-$75k. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding and working knowledge of government contracting, Overhead Pools, DCAA, and compliance regulations found in the Federal Regulation Requisition (FAR) is required. This role is open due to growth and provides the opportunity for cross training.

Software: Preference will be given to candidates with ADP, BST, Deltek, Costpoint
Report to: Accounting Manager
Interview Process: 1st round: Phone interview, 2nd round: video interview
Vaccination: New employees MUST be fully vaccinated prior to their start date. Fully vaccinated means two weeks have passed since the final dose of a primary vaccine series.
Potential Start Date: ASAP

Responsibilities
• Prepare customer billing and monitor accounts receivable status;
• Prepare Contract Closeouts and Indirect Rate Variance calculations;
• Maintain the Project Module, including Project Budgets, and Modifications;
• Play a key role in the month-end and year-end closing process;
• Prepare daily and month-end entries including payroll, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, accrued liabilities and capital asset depreciation and amortization;
• Prepare bank reconciliations, balance sheet accounts and various other general ledger accounts, as needed;
• Prepare payroll/maintain electronic time sheet module;
• Assist with annual audits - Financial Statements, Overhead, Workers Comp, DCAA Incurred Costs, and 401(k).

Other responsibilities of the department include but not limited to the following areas:
• Various Financial and Project Reporting
• Updating the Finance and Accounting Manual


Qualifications:
• A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; or the equivalent of five (5) to seven (7) years of relevant experience;
• A solid understanding and working knowledge of government contracting, Overhead Pools, DCAA, and compliance regulations found in the Federal Regulation Requisition (FAR) is required;
• Must have prior billing experience in various project types - CPFF, T&M, Lump Sum, and Fixed Price;
• Must be proficient with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook);
• Must have prior billing experience
• Fast learner and able to "come in the door running";
• Preference will be given to candidates with ADP, BST, Deltek, Costpoint, or other enterprise accounting software;
