Our client is a boutique, $10M Law Firm, located in the DMV area. The organization has been executing their mission for the last 50 years and have focused on a broad range of counseling, regulatory, litigation and legislative services to clients in every region of the country. The Firm has attained a prominent and highly regarded position in these practice areas by developing innovative approaches and achieving precedent-setting results for its clients.

They’re seeking an Accountant to support their close-knit accounting department and administrative team plus this role will interface directly with the Firm’s Officers and Shareholders. The ideal candidate is detail oriented and knowledgeable about the professional services industry with sharp communication skills. Salary will be $80K with a flexible work environment.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Attend monthly Board of Director meeting to present financial and analysis reports for updates/discussion
  • Develop annual budget and projections
  • Cash Flow (monitor cash flow)
  • Financial Reports (prepare monthly – Financial Status, Timekeeper Summary, Billable Hours, Markups/Markdowns, etc.)
  • Year End Financial Planning (prepare reports and projections)
  • Financial Statements (prepare as needed on cash basis)
  • Assist CPA firm in preparation of year‐end accrual financial statement (PBC List)
  • Prepare annual workers compensation audit
  • Maintain census for 401(k) Administrator and insurance carriers
  • Maintain and establish new clients, client billing rates and alternative fee arrangements
  • Generate pre‐bills, post final bills
  • Follow up on aged accounts receivable, as required
  • process ACH payments, process BillPay checks
  • Maintain Vendor A/P Files electronically in Centerbase (upload PDF)
  • 1099’s (prepare and distribute to vendors/contractors annually)
  • Processing payroll on isolved, a cloud‐based HRIS and payroll system
  • setting up a new employee’s direct deposit or changes to direct deposit
  • Calculate and report compensation for hourly Counsel
  • Calculate and report Shareholder Salary Reserves, including ACH to Bank
  • enter incoming wires and ACHs into Centerbase
  • deposit client check payments and enter into Centerbase
  • create entries and maintain general ledger including analysis
  • Reconcile dental/vision, short‐term disability (employee paid benefits)
  • Bank Account Reconciliations
  • Monitor Firm’s IOLTA Trust account and reconcile
  • CPA does all entity tax filings – provided data for filing (ex., Tax 720, Hawaii Tax Filings (Semi Annually & Annually)

Qualifications required:
  • 4‐year Accounting Degree from an accredited university
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Adapt at learning and mastering financial systems
  • Ability to create queries/reports in Centerbase
