Title: Senior Accountant
Hourly Rate: $30.00 - $35.00/hour
Location: Hybrid - Washington, DC
Job Type: Contract

Primary Responsibilities:

Accounts Receivable
  • Make daily deposits to bank account / coordinate with Development Department to ensure proper coding of contributions
  • Post Deposits and Pledge Payments to Accounting software
  • Post Pledges from Development Department to Accounting Software
  • Assist with monthly revenue and receivables reconciliation
Accounts Payable
  • Assume primary responsibility for Accounts Payable in Bill.com (bill payment processor)
  • Maintain Vendor List: collecting W-9s; setting up vendors with address, account number, EIN, etc.
  • Upload invoices for payment and receipts for credit card processing – send to correct department for approval, code to appropriate expense account and grant where applicable
  • Upload receipts from employee credit cards, assist in reconciling monthly credit card statement
  • Process employee reimbursements
  • Track monthly bills and payments to ensure items are paid on time
  • Ensure that monthly bank /petty cash/investment/trust reconciliations are completed
  • Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
  • Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
  • Perform month-end reconciliations of certain General Ledger Accounts
  • Assist with the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
  • Assist with the provision of financial information to D.C. government entities, investors, and lenders

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or related field, OR 4 or more years of bookkeeping/accounts payable experience
Additional Qualifications
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Experience with QuickBooks or other accounting software and on-line financial processing systems
  • Self-Starter
  • Ability to analyze data and identify discrepancies
  • Independent Thinker
  • Able to communicate effectively
  • Able to work collaboratively
