Exciting opportunity with a professional organization focused on education, government advocacy, community redevelopment, and public outreach seeking a Controller to join their team.   • Perform financial reporting and analysis of the organizational budgets on a structured and ad hoc basis
  • Provide oversight of all accounting operations including but not limited to the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
  • Oversee and direct preparation of annual capital and operating budgets and forecasts; monthly and annual team, organizational, and consolidated financial statements to facilitate financial and operational decision making
  • Recommend and implement new financial and operational policies and/or changes to existing policies
  • Provide oversight of the use and maintenance of the accounting system module of Fonteva/Salesforce, including management of the membership accounting function
  • Monitor the organization’s investment portfolio; recommend investment policy amendments; establish relationships with investments firms and banking institutions; monitor investment performance against benchmarks and recommend adjustments as needed; develop, maintain, and implement an effective cash management model
  • Coordinate and direct all aspects of the annual financial audit and required tax returns of the organization and its affiliates, including assuring timely completion of confirmations, schedules, and supporting records and documentation 
  • Implement sound budgeting and financial management practices to assure organizational and team control and appropriate recognition of revenues and expenditures, in compliance with all appropriate regulations
  • Actively seek out and maintain up-to-date knowledge regarding GAAP, FASB, IRS, AICPA regulations, and corporate tax reporting requirements; work with the technology department to ensure the organization maintains PCI Compliance
  • Oversee and direct the work of the facilities department, including tenant relationships and negotiations, the efficiency of the building's physical plant operations, and capital building improvements including renovation planning as needed

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (Advanced degree preferred but not required)
  • CPA license required
  • Minimum fifteen years of budgeting and financial analysis experience
  • Experience working in 501(c)(6) and 501(c)(3) organizations is strongly preferred
  • Proven knowledge of GAAP, FASB issues, and IRC regulations
  • Management experience leading a finance/accounting team
  • Demonstrated skill with automated accounting systems, preferably Business Central and Salesforce, and Microsoft Office applications
