Our client, a nonprofit in Baltimore, MD, is seeking a Staff Accountant/Bookkeeper, for a part-time role. The selected candidate will work 12-20 hours per week and can commit to coming into the Baltimore, MD (21201) office 1-2 days per week. Hourly compensation is $30 per hour for 12-20 hours per week. Candidates must be available to start ASAP following successful interviews. This a temporary role lasting 2-3 months.

Job Description The Staff Accountant is responsible for the day to day accounting activities including: managing accounts payable and receivable, processing payroll and benefits, data entry into QuickBooks and bill.com, and working with the Finance Director to ensure efficiency and compliance with financial requirements.
Responsibilities
Record customer, donor, membership, and fundraising income in QuickBooks and track receivables
Deposit checks electronically
Report weekly incoming payments to stakeholders
Enter, code, and pay all bills through bill.com
Process Grant/Award/Facilitator and other payments through bill.com
Monitor Credit Card account and ensure that receipts for purchases are provided by the individual cardholders
Prepare and process Payroll
Ensure that Intuit reports and pays all withholdings correctly
Process withheld HSA and 403b payments to benefit partners
Reconcile bank and other cash accounts
Prepare and mail 1099s and W-2s at year end
Provide documentation and reports to insurance providers
Prepare and file annual Charity and Personal Property reporting to the State of Maryland
Prepare files and documentation necessary for the Annual Audit, and interact with the Auditors and other stakeholders in the process to provide required information correctly and efficiently
Shared Responsibilities with Finance Director:
Monitor company’s compliance with local, state, and federal licensing and reporting requirements.
Prepare for monthly close
Prepare quarterly and year-end reports
Support staff in annual budgeting
Support the management and tracking of restricted grants
Prepare financial portion of grant proposals
Manage office G&A budget, ensure accurate and timely reporting
Requirements
Knowledge of bookkeeping, systems and procedures
Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask and prioritize work
Strong organizational and planning skills
Proficiency in MS Office and QuickBooks Online
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
