Our client seeks a Systems Engineer to be responsible for designing, testing, securing, licensing, implementing, administrating, documenting, troubleshooting, and refining all on- on-premises and cloud-based business application systems, operational systems, underlying network infrastructure, and all related computer hardware and software while providing 3rd Level Help Desk technical assistance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design and manage all on-premises and cloud-based business application systems updates, upgrades, additions, and retirements following ITIL 4 best practice guidelines.
Thoroughly test new systems in a proper lab setting, formulate deployment and contingency plans, and verify everything with the IT Director before pushing to Production.
Monitor the virtual server, physical server, cloud computing and network environments 24/7 for warnings and alerts, taking appropriate action as necessary.
Oversee administration of all Information Technology systems, on-premises and in the cloud, maintaining the health and security of the organization.
Manage the licensing of all cloud services, business application systems, certificates, domains, operating systems, network devices, and all other enterprise, third-party software required for maintaining proper security and support.
Develop and update all application, server, network, and security IT documentation, including policies, procedures, checklists, and techniques specific to related systems.
Perform complex problem isolation, troubleshooting, and resolution throughout the entire Information Technology infrastructure, always seeking refinements and improvements.
Act as the primary technical lead for all major initiatives, changes, and deployments, responsibly managing engagements with vendors and contractors.
Provide expert phone system administration and support, including programming, configuration changes, ACD Queue creation/management, and SIP trunk issues.
Practice proper Lifecycle IT Management by regularly assessing current hardware infrastructure needs, tracking equipment, scheduling replacement and responsible recycling.
Verify backup system functionality and disaster recovery plans regularly by testing the restoration of files, virtual machines, and physical servers.
Stay educated on the latest technology, keep current on relevant certifications, and regularly attend technical training to maintain necessary security proficiency and technical expertise.
Occasionally train employees on current or new technologies, proper security, end-user application use, and healthy computer usage hygiene.
Mentor and advise the Network and Desktop Specialist and Junior Systems Administrator roles.
Designated backup for Director, Information Technology.
Security Services:
Harden, safeguard, and regularly verify compliance with all aspects of the IT infrastructure according to CIS Benchmarks and all relevant regulations.
Oversee management and maintenance of all core networking devices, including firewalls, routers, switches, etc. to maintain proper security levels and compliance.
Could you suggest, present, and justify security policy changes to the IT Director, implementing, verifying and documenting any approved changes
Research and address all concerns found during annual and semi-annual cybersecurity assessment engagements within a set timeframe, based on severity.
Help Desk Services:
Provide 3rd Level Help Desk technical assistance and support for all incoming support requests, including issues related to computer desktops, laptops, tablets, mobile devices, printers and all end- user applications.
Provide 3rd Level Audio-Visual technical assistance and support for all in-house AV systems, training rooms and conference rooms.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, MIS or related field required
Highly preferred certifications: (ISC)2 CISSP, VMware VCAP or equivalents
Preferred certifications: ISACA CISA, VMware VCP
Extensive understanding and administrative knowledge of all server-class Microsoft Windows Operating Systems from 2003 to 2019 (and beyond), Linux & Mac OSX
Demonstrable experience using VMware vSphere, vCenter Server and any supporting technologies including vSAN, iSCSI and NAS
Expert administrative knowledge of MS Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Exchange, Group Policy, SCCM, WSUS, Intune and Jamf
Proven design knowledge of multiple current business application systems and software, including but not limited to: anti-virus, phone, security, software distribution, digital signage, POS and backups
Exhaustive understanding of all networking fundamentals and protocols such as TCP/IP, SMB, DNS, LLMNR, NetBIOS, DHCP, SMTP, SSL, VLAN, Telnet, SSH, RDP, RSTP, QoS, CoS, etc.
Excellent time management skills, able to prioritize and efficiently complete projects on time, all while maintaining strict information confidentiality
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to exercise tact and courtesy in working with all levels of staff whether in-person, over the phone or in email
