Position: Collections Specialist

Responsibilities: As a Collections Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing the revenue cycle by effectively handling accounts receivable and ensuring timely and accurate collection of outstanding balances. Your primary duties will include:

• Examine healthcare claims to identify discrepancies and resolve billing issues promptly.
• Contact patients and insurance companies to follow up on outstanding balances and facilitate timely payment.
• Maintain detailed and accurate records of all collection activities, conversations, and payment arrangements.
• Provide clear and concise explanations of billing processes and financial responsibilities to patients, addressing any inquiries or concerns.
• Work closely with internal departments, including billing, coding, and patient services, to resolve issues and streamline the billing and collection process.
• Generate and analyze reports on collection performance, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in collections, with a focus on healthcare billing and accounts receivable management.
• High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional coursework or certification in healthcare administration or billing is a plus.
• Familiarity with healthcare billing practices, medical coding, and insurance claims processing.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient in using billing and collections software.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
