Data Analyst

We are looking to hire a Data Analyst to support our client's Washington, D.C. area financial and strategy advisory practice. Successful candidates will be intellectually curious individuals who work well in teams, are eager to learn, and can maintain high levels of attention to detail.
Those experienced with manipulating large data sets, managing statistical models, or data science generally are highly encouraged to apply. We are seeking a candidate experienced in data analytics, statistical modeling, and big data visualization who is seeking to contribute and assist the firm in developing BI and business decision support tools for our clients, as well as actively engage in client facing strategy engagements.
Examples of engagements include:
  • Developing robust datasets, business models, and decision support tools using SQL, Tableau, Excel, and Python (specifically the Pandas package), or some mix of these tools.
  • Extracting and aggregating data from multiple sources as well as cleaning and analyzing data to subsequently develop insights and implications for engagement team
  • Supporting engagement teams from origination to transaction completion
  • Assisting in the development of detailed financial models and valuation analyses
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Proficient with SQL (SQL Server or MySQL; comfort with relational databases demonstrates the analytical mindset necessary to excel within firm)
  • Proficient with Python in a data modeling or computer science capacity
  • Microsoft Excel skills (General experience with building quantitative models using Excel)
  • Experience with quantitative data collection and modification
  • Experience with Tableau and/or other data modeling software packages
  • Familiarity with general business/financial/accounting concepts
  • At least a bachelor’s degree in an economic, STEM, or business related field
  • Effective communicator
  • Ability to multi-task while remaining attentive to detail

  • Interesting educational background that demonstrates critical thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to provide solutions to complex problems
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative
  • Team player that can switch roles at a moment's notice
  • Strong interest in collaborative work within a small-firm environment that supports the development of a wide range of skills and knowledge
  • Additional statistical modeling software (i.e., R, SAS, etc.)
  • Additional programming language exposure (i.e., Java, C++, etc.)
