Title: Senior Property Accountant
Compensation: 85K – 115K
Environment: Hybrid - Arlington, VA/Bethesda, MD/ Washington, D.C

Our client, a Real Estate Management and Development company who impacts communities and organizations across the US, is seeking an experienced Senior Property Accountant to help maintain a diverse portfolio of Commercial and Residential properties. This key role will assist in all aspects of accounting operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, GL, and audit readiness.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Duties of Position:
  • Oversee the general ledger and ensure a timely monthly close.
  • Responsible for generating the monthly financial statements and ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Support the Controller with the annual audits; financial statement, ASC 842
  • Support the preparation of the annual property tax filings.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining effective policies and procedures that reflect well-balanced internal controls.
  • Participate in various business processes and technology integration initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Reports directly to the Controller and supervise at least one direct report.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • CPA preferred but not required.
  • Direct property accounting experience preferred. GL accounting experience required.
  • Willingness to be hands on and work closely with the details, prepare complex journal entries.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and deadlines. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Maintain high personal integrity and strong work ethic.
  • Experience with Yardi, MRI, or Sage Intacct preferred but not required.
