Cordia Resources is currently looking for a
General Ledger Accountant to join a fast growth government contractor in
Fairfax, VA. As General Ledger accountant you will be responsible journal entries, account analyses, supporting monthly closings, maintenance of sub-ledger and other duties. Ideal candidate will be knowledgeable with government contract types (T&M, CPFF, FFP), understand GAAP, and want to work with a dynamic and motivated team! MUST have strong general ledger reconcilatiosn background.
Responsibilities:
- Support general accounting functions including the presentation of journal entries and account analyses
- Supports the Accounting Manager with month end close activities and other general ledger reconciliations in accordance with GAAP
- Responsible for the research, identification and resolution of all discrepancies
- Maintenance of the general ledger subledgers to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Communicate with the Accounting Team to discuss any issues that may impact the timeliness and / or reliability of financial results
- Continually assess ongoing processes to identify areas for potential improvement
- Provide support for external and internal audits (i.e. financial statement reviews, bank exams) as related to assigned tasking responsibility areas
- Work with confidential data in a professional manner to maintain the integrity of the data and processes
- Other general accounting duties and ad hoc tasking as assigned by management
- Maintain an organized workspace and files, including both electronic and hard copy
Qualifications:
Required:
- Education/Certification: BA/BS or equivalent additional related work experience required.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Microsoft Navision software experience a plus
- Familiarity with Government web portals such as WAWF, IPP, MOCAS a plus
- Demonstrated understanding of T&M, CPFF, FFP contracts
- Working knowledge of FAR, JTR, DCAA Audit Guidelines and GAAP
- Strong presentation skills, attention to detail and follow-through skills
- Ability to handle impromptu requests in a timely manner
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Must show a high degree of initiative to multi-task, solve problems and self-prioritize
- Proven track record of handling confidential information with discretion
