Vice President, People & Culture

Cordia Resources is supporting a client of ours, a boutique professional services agency, is looking for a dynamic and high-growth HR professional to join their team. The VP, People & Culture is a new role because of growth and will be based in the Washington, DC office, but could work remotely outside the DC area indefinitely.

The VP, People & Culture will be a leader in our growing firm and help bring our vision to life. This role will oversee human resources responsibilities, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and retention. You will be instrumental in advancing our DE&I efforts across the organization. You will also work with senior leadership to design professional development programs, including agency-wide trainings, an external speaker series, and our formal review process. This role is essential in helping to advance the company's mission & vision and will serve as a steward of our future-focused culture.

The VP will:
  • Manage and drive the firm’s recruitment and hiring functions
  • Serve as the first point of contact for potential employees, conducting phone screens and coordinating steps in the hiring process
  • Help to expand and mature our HR functions as the firm grows
  • Collaborate with our accountant and bookkeeper on payroll and benefits
  • Work with the senior leadership team to design and manage the operations functions of the firm, from overseeing the development and training of team members, to executing staff training programs, to developing org charts, to managing personality assessment tools
  • Play an influential role in building our talent and culture processes and benefits from the ground up
  • Directly manage team members within the organization’s HR and operations functions
  • Advise team members on HR issues and serve as the first point of contact for HR and benefits questions
  • Develop and provide agency-wide trainings
  • Work with our DE&I consultant on executing our diversity and inclusion workshop series
  • Ensure strict compliance with federal and state laws
  • Develop and oversee employee resource groups and play a role in protecting and growing the firm’s cultural initiatives
  • Manage agency-wide communications
Ideal Qualifications:
  • 8-15 years of HR experience; ideally in a PR, public affairs, or advertising agency (professional services) environment
  • Bring a diverse and varied outlook and perspective to our firm
  • Be invested in being a senior leader at a small, growing, ambitious company
  • Experience in using systems like Payscale to establish compensation
  • Have a track record of mentoring staff and leading teams
  • Be a strong written and verbal communicator
  • A commitment to uphold and defend the highest levels of ethical conduct
  • A desire to work in a fun, fluid, and fast-paced culture
  • Experience leading staff development and talent cultivation at all levels, as well as mentorship and career tracking
  • A strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and respect for a culturally diverse team
