Human Resources Manager

  • HR Advocacy – Reinforce the culture by taking a proactive approach to supporting the company’s strategic initiatives.
  • Management Development/Training – Assess needs and partner with the company to implement consistent strategies relating to management level development. Support the performance management process to ensure continuous improvement and the implementation of best practices.
  • Handle employee relations issues, and labor relations tasks. 
  • Policy/Strategy - Implementation of HR policies and procedures, including the creation and delivery of training/communication programs as needed.
  • Communication with managers, other HR regarding escalated issues, morale, approved schedules, status changes, new positions, and terminations
  • Maintain HR files for the entire region per company policy
  • Assist with VOE, LOA, and FMLA
  • Manage employee hours and diligent payroll review
  • Approve life event changes for benefits, status change requests, forms, address changes, DD changes in the payroll processing system
  • Handle payroll setup for new EINs, local time clock setup  
  • Fosters relationships with both employees and collective bargaining units, while meeting all legal, company, federal and state regulations and policies.
  • Create and maintain job descriptions for employees in the region
  • Manage ATS for your region
  • Manage employee life cycle from hiring and recruiting, onboarding, development and performance reviews, and termination in collaboration with company policies and procedures (including maintenance of all required paperwork)
  • Assists with monthly benefits and cobra audits
  • Other duties may be assigned 
  • Knowledge of state and federal employment laws
  • Proficient with state laws
  • Recruiting, interviewing, and counseling/coaching skills, and strong training/presentation skills.
  • A high level of business/financial acumen is required. Knowledge of HR best practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, decision making, development/planning, performance gap analysis, and conflict management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, as well as champion change.
  • Based in MD, ability to travel to NJ/MD and NY 
  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years’ experience
  • Experience with all facets of Human Resources, including knowledge of employee relations, talent management, benefit and compensation administration, and legal compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations governing employment
  • Effective leadership, team building, and change management skills.
  • Union experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Candidate must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, pivot between projects, and be a team player
